108 Sun Salutations

with Robyn Okrant
Saturday, September 20 from 12:30pm - 3:00pm

$30 if registered by September 17, $35 thereafter

Celebrate the change of seasons by challenging your body and mind! While Sun Salutations are frequently used to warm and stretch the body before continuing on to other poses, they can also be a complete practice on their own. A set of Sun Salutations, or Surya Namaskar in Sanskrit, is the perfect flowing practice to bind breath to movement, to warm the entire body, to discover a meditative state in the repetition of postures, and to build strength, flexibility and stamina. In this workshop, we will be flowing through a series of classic Hatha Yoga salutations. While you are more than welcome to sign up for this workshop, even if you plan on completing fewer than 108 salutations, this will still be a vigorous practice. Salutations will be practiced in series of 18, with a time of rest and reflection between each set. For those who care to, the time and guidance will be offered to you to complete a mala, or cleansing (and perhaps self-transforming) series of 108 salutations. 108 is believed to be an auspicious number and some yogis consider it important to complete one mala per year, but don’t be intimidated – it is not required for this workshop!

If you would like to take this workshop, it is advised you attend regular Level 2 or 2/3 classes to prepare. You might also consider adding regular series of Sun Salutations to your home practice.

This workshop should not be attended by anyone with a serious or recent back or knee injury or by anyone who is untreated for high blood pressure. Please bring a towel, water, and a sense of openness and exploration.

Pre-registration is required. Space is limited.  Register here.

Robyn Okrant

Robyn began practicing yoga due to chronic back pain and quickly discovered that her practice not only alleviated her physical discomfort, but brought a new sense of joy, peace, strength and contentment to her life.
