Anyone who loves Gentle & Restorative yoga will tell you that a softer approach to practice is not necessarily easier. And when teaching these increasingly popular styles, there's a lot to consider and manage simultaneously.
Gentle Yoga is a mindful practice that combines elements of Level 1 and Restorative classes. A gentle class incorporates some active work to build strength and mobility, while also carving out ample time and space to rest deeply in comfortably supported restorative poses. This holistic yet practical approach offers a satisfying balance to students of all stages of life and levels of experience with yoga.
This dynamic and experiential training will empower you to create both active and Restorative practices (for yourself and your students!). With a balance of discussion, experiential work, and practice teaching your fellow trainees, you'll come away from this weekend feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and empowered to share what you've learned.
Find the Right Balance of Active Poses
When your students are game for more of a challenge, learn how to incorporate active poses in a way that empowers the individual student to identify and choose the variation that works for them. It's a delicate balance knowing how to include stronger work in a practice while still keeping it gentle.
Get Practice Propping Restorative Poses
When a much softer approach is needed, you'll learn prop set-ups for key Restorative poses, getting insider teaching tips that will empower you to guide even the softest class as a balanced practice. Often Restorative sequences can become wishy-washy and feel one-dimensional. Learn how to keep students engaged and alert, while promoting a state of deep inner calm and introspection.
You'll also learn and experience accessible ways to incorporate breath work and brief meditation techniques into practice.
Break free from your routine and learn a new approach to practice that your students (and your own body) will love! This training will provide you with a new specialty that will make you more versatile as a teacher, while also enhancing and refining your teaching of other styles. And perhaps most importantly, you will come away feeling inspired to apply a gentler approach in your own practice and life - because it's essential to walk the walk as a teacher!

This workshop is open to yoga teachers, yoga teachers-in-training, and dedicated practitioners. This workshop is also eligible for Continuing Education (CE) credits in accordance with Yoga Alliance standards. See YogaAlliance.org for more information. All hours are contact hours.
A Certificate of Completion for the 20-hour Gentle & Restorative Yoga Teacher Training is available to participants who attend all training hours and complete required homework assignments.

Yoga, conscious breath, and meditation have been an integral part of Kerry's daily life for over 20 years now, and she's passionate about sharing the depths of this practice in an accessible, individualized, and down-to-earth way.
Kerry specializes in teaching Gentle and Restorative Yoga. An E-RYT 500 as well as an Advanced Trainer in Relax & Renew™ Restorative Yoga, Kerry also holds a certificate in Curvy Yoga. She welcomes and embraces the needs of all bodies in her classes, and loves to customize each practice with the skillful and creative use of props and modifications. Kerry has been training teachers since 2011, and it's her passion to mentor teachers to help them authentically shine.
