Always interested in movement as a form of expression, Ginny Sykes began practicing yoga in her twenties, as a compliment to her dance and performance art practice. She studied with Suddha Wexler at Chicago Yoga Center, with many fine teachers at Bloom since 2007, and at Yoga in Centro, an Iyengar studio in Naples, Italy. She completed her 200 hour training at Yogaview in 2018, followed by Yoga to Transform Trauma, a 40 hour training with Catherine Ashton. She teaches a flowing practice combined with strengthening and proper alignment and to cultivate joy. From her own injuries, she has experienced yoga’s healing capacities through attending to the body’s physical cues with compassion and patience. She sees yoga’s calming, meditative focus as a pathway to physical, spiritual, and energetic balance on and off the mat.
